Chris Emison
Since 2003, Chris' focus has been on representing clients in estate planning, probate, and real estate matters. Through her years of experience in both probate and estate planning matters, she is able to plan her clients' estates to minimize the time, expense, and publicity of probate. Plus, during times of difficult decision-making and grief, after the passing of a loved one, she is able to provide her clients with compassion and skill in guiding them through the process.
Chris also helps her clients with Medicaid asset protection through both advanced Medicaid planning and crisis Medicaid planning. She has helped many clients in protecting their assets from the costs of long-term care. There are also many ways to assist veterans and their families with obtaining Veteran Benefits. With her training and familiarity with these programs, she is able to help clients maximize their benefits under Medicaid and VA programs.

Chris received her undergraduate degree from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Public and Environmental Affairs. She worked for eight years as an oil and gas landsman negotiating mineral leases in eight different states. She then obtained her law degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law, where she was also a Notes Editor for the University of Kentucky Journal of Mineral Law and Policy.
Chris is married to Bryce and has two daughters, Sidney and Claire. She served on the DeSales High School Board and Executive Committee and is active in her church, St. Albert the Great. She is currently a member of the Wealth Counsel, Elder Counsel, Kentucky Bar Association, and Louisville Bar Association. She served as the secretary of the KBA (Kentucky Bar Association) Elder Law Section from 2017-2018.

Jane Schmidt
Jane Schmidt focuses her practice on Elder Law - helping seniors save money with Veterans Benefits and careful estate planning to avoid the extremely high cost of nursing home care. She also prepares wills and other estate planning documents, such as the powers of attorney and living wills.
Jane is a Louisville-based attorney licensed in Kentucky and Georgia. She is a graduate of The College of William and Mary (B.A.), Georgia State University (M.B.A.) and Georgia Law School (J.D.) Jane is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association's Elder Law Section as well as Elder Counsel, Wealth Counsel, and Elder Law Answers.

Formerly, she worked as an attorney for the Federal Trade Commission, helping to protect Americans from losing money to scam artists. Before that, Jane worked as a marketing specialist for Computer Communications Specialists and as a finance assistant for Hart Marx in Atlanta.
Jane is a trained Stephen Minister, serves tea to women with cancer through the Sterling Tea Ministry, and has been a Girl Scout Leader and volunteer for over ten years. She is married to Dr. William Schmidt. Together they have three beautiful children and a yellow lab.
She is currently a member of the Wealth Counsel, Elder Counsel, Kentucky Bar Association, and Louisville Bar Association. Jane is accredited with the Veteran's Administration to handle VA Claims.

CHERYL BRUNER
Cheryl concentrates her practice on elder law and asset protection, combining traditional estate and gift planning with today's elder estate planning tools to minimize the financial impact of elder care, rehab, and long-term nursing home costs. Working all throughout the state of Kentucky, she prepares irrevocable asset protection trusts, revocable living trusts, wills, durable power of attorney (financial and medical surrogacy), and living wills. For many individuals and families, an asset protection trust is an essential component of an elder estate plan to preserve the tradition of passing down an inheritable asset. Cheryl also prepares gun trusts to give firearms owners peace of mind related to inheritance or transfer of their property.
Cheryl obtained her law degree from the Brandeis School of Law, University of Louisville (J.D. 1995). She is admitted to the bar in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the United States District Court, W.D., and E.D. Ky., the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
Cheryl's bar memberships include Elder Counsel, Wealth Counsel, the Kentucky Bar Association, and the Louisville Bar Association. Cheryl's husband, Bart Bruner, is a teacher and football coach at St. Xavier High School. They have two adult children and are members of St. Michael Catholic Church, where they've spent many years of active participation. Cheryl previously served as a member of the Parish Council, School Advisory Board, Capital Campaign Leadership Team, Summer Picnic Co-Chair, and Girl Scout Troop Leader. She and her husband volunteer at the Cathedral of the Assumption daily lunch program with a group of friends.
Cheryl is an active civic volunteer as well. She currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors for the YMCA of Greater Louisville, just completing her second term as Chair of the Annual Giving Campaign. Cheryl is also a board member of the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation.
A native of Owensboro, Kentucky, Cheryl keeps close ties with friends there and doesn’t pass an opportunity to enjoy some Owensboro-style barbeque.

Annie Golemboski
Annie grew up in Oldham County, Kentucky and attended Xavier University, where she obtained her undergraduate degree in social work (B.S.S.W., 2014). After college, Annie spent a year of service in Guyana, South America, as a social worker at an HIV clinic, and at St. John Bosco Orphanage.
After returning to Kentucky, Annie worked for 3 years at Elder Law of Louisville as a Client Manager. There, she learned the complexities of elder law and the role that a well-prepared estate plan plays in helping clients and their families navigate difficulties during their senior years.
Realizing her passion for helping others, Annie pursued a law degree at Brandeis School of Law, University of Louisville (J.D., 2022), and was admitted to the Kentucky Bar in October, 2022 and the Indiana Bar in January, 2023.

Now, Annie is committed to working with clients and their families to protect their assets from the high cost of nursing home care. Annie also prepares estate plans for individuals, couples and families, including general and healthcare powers of attorney, living will directives, last will and testaments, and revocable or irrevocable trusts.
Annie is licensed to practice law in Kentucky and Indiana, and is a Veterans Affairs Accredited Attorney. Annie is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, the Louisville Bar Association, the Indiana State Bar Association, ElderCounsel, and WealthCounsel. Outside of the office, Annie likes to spend her free time with her family and friends, exercising, and is a registered yoga instructor.

Sheryl Krieger

Sheryl Krieger is a Louisville native with a strong background in customer service. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from McKendree College and has 30+ years of experience in the business world. She enjoys meeting new people and strives to deliver impeccable service and a quick response to our clients.
Sheryl is a past member of the Louisville Jaycees, where she gained her love of helping others. She has volunteered at the Cathedral of Assumption Soup Kitchen, Dare to Care, St. Vincent DePaul, Eastern Area Christian Ministries, Gilda's Club, Fund for the Arts, United Way, and the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts.
Sheryl has been married to Michael Krieger for 28 years, and they have three adult children: Mike, Jr., Matthew, and Kennady. They are members of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. When not working, she loves to ride her tractor and cut grass on their 14 acres. She loves watching all kinds of sports and cheers on the UofL Cardinals. She enjoys photography, reading, and playing with their two cats, Dolly and Honey.
